Backbase-as-a-Service: Automated Banking at Scale
Client: Backbase
Challenge
Backbase had a proven digital banking platform, but getting a new bank up and running after purchasing the software took months and cost a disproportionate amount of engineering effort. Every new client required manual infrastructure setup, hand-configured CI/CD pipelines, and bespoke GitHub organization scaffolding. The time and cost of onboarding was the bottleneck, not the platform itself.
Approach
We designed and built “Backbase-as-a-Service”: a bank blueprint that automated the complete provisioning chain. On a push of a button, we provisioned the full bank infrastructure — a complete DTAP street — together with the entire development setup for building on top of the white-label bank: a GitHub organization fully configured with code repositories, CI/CD pipelines wired to build, test, and deploy applications into the bank. What previously took months was reduced to a fully automated process completing in under five hours.
Outcome
Three banks reached production within eight months. What previously consumed months of manual effort per bank became a repeatable, sub-five-hour provisioning process. The blueprint continues to scale as new banks onboard, with no linear increase in engineering effort.
