Universal Connector for National Lottery Systems

Challenge

A national lottery operator was moving from a single-vendor model to a multi-vendor landscape, requiring a universal connector to integrate all sales and gaming channels. The system had to meet strict regulatory availability requirements while securely connecting to non-public lottery infrastructure that could not be exposed to the internet.

Approach

We built a greenfield cloud-native platform on AWS using Java and Spring Boot containers, deployed active-active across Ireland and Frankfurt for zero-downtime resilience. Site-to-site VPNs provided secure connectivity to non-public lottery systems. DataDog delivered full-stack observability, and GitLab CI/CD automated the entire path from commit to production. We built the system and operated it.

Outcome

All sales and lottery channels integrated through a single platform with 24/7 availability across two active regions. Fully automated operations eliminated manual deployment intervention in a highly regulated environment where errors carry outsized consequences.
