Agentic Teams are dedicated AI agent teams that operate as a complete product organization. Each team includes specialized roles: a Product Owner who translates business requirements into actionable work, a UX Designer who crafts user experiences, a Tech Lead who makes architectural decisions, a Security Champion who reviews every change for vulnerabilities, and a Content Strategist who ensures clear communication across all touchpoints. Each agent has a defined persona, a specific model configuration, and explicit boundaries on what it can decide autonomously.

These agents work within a defined decision hierarchy built from 16 years of engineering leadership experience. Routine implementation decisions — code style, test coverage, dependency updates — are handled autonomously. Architectural choices, security-sensitive changes, and anything touching production data are escalated for human review. The hierarchy is not a suggestion; it is enforced through the team configuration, with every escalation logged and tracked.

Every commit, every infrastructure change, and every deployment goes through the same rigorous process you would expect from a senior engineering team: automated tests, security scanning, code review, and staged rollouts. The teams use real engineering tools — Git, CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, structured logging — not prompt chains or toy demonstrations.

What makes this fundamentally different from copilot-style AI tools is scope and accountability. A copilot assists a single developer with code suggestions. An Agentic Team owns the full lifecycle: planning, design, implementation, testing, deployment, monitoring, and iteration. They maintain context across the entire codebase, coordinate across repositories, and deliver complete features rather than code snippets.

We built this methodology by running it on our own products first. The Functorful website, our internal infrastructure, and our client delivery pipelines are all built and maintained by Agentic Teams under human direction.
